EYFS

Intent

Our EYFS curriculum is built around the belief that every child can grow with resilience to achieve and aspiration to succeed. We start by really getting to know each child so we can tailor learning to their needs, interests and backgrounds, helping them feel confident, valued and ready to explore.

Implementation

Children learn through play, rich experiences and meaningful conversations. Our team supports them with warm interactions, flexible activities and simple adaptations that help every child take part and thrive. We focus strongly on building vocabulary and giving children exciting, first‑hand experiences that make learning come alive and widen their understanding of the world.

Impact

We see the impact in their growing confidence, independence and progress across all areas of learning. Regular observations help us understand what each child knows and what they’re ready for next, making sure they are well‑prepared, happy and excited for the move into Year 1.

The Characteristics of Effective Learning help children build the habits they need to become confident, curious learners. They focus on three key ideas: children playing and exploring, actively thinking and trying things out, and enjoying learning enough to keep going even when something is tricky. In practice, this means giving children time to investigate, make choices, solve problems, and learn from mistakes. When we support these behaviours—at home and in school—we help children develop independence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.
