Our current learning.

The last half term of this academic year we are learning about transport and travel.

We have read few stories, such as 'The train ride', 'Who sank the boat' and 'Ben and Gran and the whole wide wonderful world', and talked about trains, boats and other types of transports.

Children had fun learning about the capacity, weight and floating through practical experiment in class. Now we know who sank the boat!

Other activities included using a ruler to measure a peer and distances the toy trains can travel as well as using a metre and own giant steps to compare distances for jumping from the spot and throwing a bean bag.

Children loved to watch our planet on Google Earth as we talked about places and climates around the world. Some of the favourite activities were to pack a suitcase to travel to cold and hot climate countries and to make own passport.

Our sink/float experiment

Measuring a peer

Making own travel passport

Sorting clothes and items for travel

Last half term, our topic was ‘Minibeasts’.

We have been learning and exploring minibeasts, their habitats and discussed how they help our environment. Some of the activities included: making a ladybird, designing and making our own Bug Hotel and observing caterpillars turning into butterflies in our classes. We also pretended to be caterpillars and tasted green vegetables. Children wrote about their favourite green vegetable and drew a picture of it.

Our learning journey

We followed some instructions on how to make moon cookies, like our friend 'Astro Girl'.
