Week 16: Welcome back to Spring 1. What a cold and chillly week! We have been busy remembering all our letters and sounds that we have learned so far and have begun the process of learning how to be more independent in our reading and writing using our known letters and sounds. In maths, we have focused on zero and embedding our numbers to 5 (before beginning to move on to gaining a well rounded understanding of numbers to 10). Lastly, we have begun to explore, understand and apply the key vocabulary for our local area and understanding of maps and what they mean to us.

Week 15: Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas and Holiday Prep alongside our Christmas Dinner, performance and party - a very busy week. For photos of our dinner and performance - head to our joint Reception class photo page

Week 13 and 14: We have been busy carring on our phonics learnings - you can see some of us wearing our 'w'...'watches'. We have also been exploring capacity and learning about full and empty. Lastly, we have been learning about the festival of Christmas and its different meaning for different people and we have decorated our classrooms inside and out!

Week 10 to 12 - We have been very busy over the last few weeks of Autumn 2 - we have begun to use our phonics knowledge alongside learning our long vowel digraphs. We have begun to read and write with our new knowledge. We have been exploring shape and learning shape specific vocabulary and consolidating our number understanding. We have also been learning all about different animals.

Week 9: Welcome back to the 2nd half of Autumn Term. This term we will be concentrating on learning about Animals and also Festivals involving light. This week we have been learning about Diwali, Bonfire Night and Remembrance Sunday as well as investigating the properties of shape (mainly circles and triangles) and recapping all the letters and sounds and words that we have learnt so far. Another busy week..

Week 7 and 8: Wow! we have reached the end of our first half term in Reception. Over the last few weeks we have been investigating different occupations including artist and gardener. We have been consolidating our understanding of 1 - 3 and beyond. We have also been busy learning our letters and sounds and completing activities that begin with different intial sounds as we learn them. So far we have learnt; s, a, t, i, p, n, c, k, ck, e, h, r, m and d. We are very ready for our week off but excited to be back in one weeks time to carry on our learning journey.

Hello Yellow Day! Today we wore yellow to school and completed activities that made us happy which keep our brain happy. We did really well as a class and raised £36 for this charity. A huge thank you on behalf of the children!

Week 5: We have been investigating Black History this week. We learned about Floella Benjamin's journey and experiences and read the story ' Coming to England'. We started our phonics journey by beginning to learn the letters s, a and t. We learned about pattern and shape in Maths and we also thought carefully about our Reception Golden Rules and how they help everybody keep safe and happy. We also went to the computer suite for the first time and used caring is a sharing (my turn - your turn) when using the mouse to play a shape game. Lastly, as part of our understanding of black history we explored African music (including Afrobeats), created masks and made patterns which were similar to the beautiful patterns our mummies and daddies wear on their traditional clothing.

Our First Few Weeks: We have been busy settling into our new classes and learning all about how school works. We have been learning our golden rules and exploring playing with our new friends. We have been learning all about our feelings and bodies. We have also been investigating our five senses and learning new words to explain our new experiences (e.g. aromatic and stinky when we explored our sense of smell). We have also been learning and reinforcing counting from 1 to 5.
