Spring 1

We are half way through Spring 1 and have been busy exploring our Local Area, London and the World.  We walked around our school and then created a map of it.  We have used Google Earth to visit familiar places in Dagenham as well as travelling to London to see landmarks.  We have explored the words village, town, city and countryside and further afield and how these places are different and their meaning to us.  We've used the globe to explore travelling distances and transport.

In maths we have been begun to investigate and learn number bonds to 5, the names and properties of solid shapes and doubling.  Within phonics we are reinforcing known sounds and continuing to learn different digraphs.  We have started to read and write simple sentences using this knowledge and high frequency words.

Autumn 2

Welcome back!  We have now settled into our classes and continue to establish friendships.

This half-term topic is 'Animals' and we have started our learning with sea animals. Children enjoyed listening to stories about underwater creatures and used their own skills to create a rainbow fish and an octopus. We have learnt that fish can breath in the water using gills, that the octopus has 8 legs and the starfish has 5 arms!

We will continue to explore environments and habitats to learn about amazing animals around the world.

Please visit our individual class pages to see our learning in progress.

Autumn 1

We are very pleased to welcome you at the beginning of the new school year.  We have been  busy settling into our new classes and have been making new friends.

Our topic this term is 'Ourselves' and we will be learning about ourselves and our family. This will include learning about occupations (e.g. chef, gardener, artist). Some of our activities will include cooking and creating our own artwork.  We will also explore our family trees.  Watch out for any letters asking for your help!
