Unit 1

Travelling close to the ground in different ways different types of sliding, rolling.

Travelling far away from the ground different jumps shapes and different take offs

Balancing with body close to the ground/apparatus identifying different body parts touching the ground in these balances.

Balancing in high positions

Identifying body parts which are the highest point of the balance

Travelling close to the ground with different body parts taking the weight and travelling far away from the ground/apparatus with different body parts being furthest away from the ground/apparatus

 

Unit 2

Experiencing and identifying different patterns or pathways on the floor

Identifying the different directions of different pathways

Making pathways on the floor which are large or small

Travelling on the pathways with high or low movements

Experimenting with different movements

Partner work follow my leader showing different shaped pathways and appropriate movements for travelling on them

 

Unit 3

Turning jumps quarter turn, half turn, three quarter turn and full turn

Rolling on the floor in different ways

Finding different body parts upon which to spin

Turning in the air and on the floor and on apparatus

Twisting learning that one part of the body is fixed as the other moves to create a twist

Join together movements to demonstrate

 

Unit 4

Continuity of movement how one movement can join onto another without walking in between

Change of speed and level

Experiment with different parts of the body leading into the next movement

Different directions

Linking movements together to compose a sequence of movements of their choice

Make up a short sequence in two’s making the movements link together smoothly
