Here We Are

To begin our year back at Leys Primary, we have looked at the book 'HERE WE ARE' by Oliver Jeffers.

We explored some of the following key themes:

Earth's place in the wider universe
The earth's environment
Our place on the planet as humans
How human relate to each other
Other species and our responsibility towards them

We had really meaningful discussions in class, followed by class activities, written poems, letters and art work.

In our ICT sessions, we research the author and illustrator and blogged about our findings. We found out some really interesting facts about Oliver Jeffers and some of us are really keen to try some of his other books as well. We were also inspired by his drawings and illustrations and we tried to do self-portraits using his style.

These 2 weeks have been a really fun start to the school year.
