3I

Welcome to 3I

We have settled in well to a new school year and have been learning about new and exciting topics.

PE

Our PE day is Monday.  Please ensure your child comes to school with the correct uniform on and shoes that are suitable for PE.

Reading Books

All children now have reading books and should be reading at least 3 times a week.  Children should complete an ARA test once they have finished their book.  This can be done either at home or at school.  Once completed, their books will then be changed.

We will also visit the library at school and children will be able to choose their own book for them to read at home for enjoyment.

Homework

Children will receive their homework on a Friday and it will need to be completed and returned by the following Friday.

Basic Knowledge

Children now have their basic knowledge with words and times tables.  These are for them to practice at home and we will test them to see how well they have been remembering them.  The aim is to be able to answer the times table sums in 6 seconds and in any order.  The children should be able to remember how to spell the words and then use them in their writing at school.

We are looking forward to a great year!

Topic

For our Science topic this half term, we have been looking at the skeleton.  We have learnt the names of the bones in our body and have done an experiment on how we use our skulls to keep our brains safe.  We used chocolate tea cakes and we had to think of a way to stop the tea cake from becoming damaged.  We created different ways of keeping our cakes safe and we were able to work out how to do this.  However we did end up with some squashed tea cakes!!

Our new topic is History. We are beginning to look at the Stone Age.  We wanted to know what it felt like to become Archaeologists so we used a soft brush and a scrapper to find historical artefacts in sand and how it felt to discover something new and exciting.
