3. Classroom Highlights

🍂 Year 1 Explore the Great Outdoors!

This week, our Year 1 children have been diving into the wonderful world of nature. Inspired by our class ebook, Who Lives Here?, where Sam writes all about his exciting nature walks, we decided to lace up our shoes and become nature detectives ourselves!

We took a trip out into our school grounds for our very own nature walk, and the children did an amazing job spotting signs of wildlife and changing seasons.

🔍 Our Great Finds

Our eagle-eyed detectives found all sorts of natural treasures, including:

  • Shiny conkers hiding in their prickly shells.
  • Helicopter seeds spinning down from the trees.
  • Soft feathers and smooth, colorful stones.
  • Tiny insects crawling through the grass.
  • Bright autumn berries and beautiful crunchy leaves.

📝 What's Next?

The walk has sparked so much excitement in the classroom! Next week, the children will step into Sam's shoes to become diary writers. We will be using our hands-on experience to write our very own nature diaries, focusing on using capital letters, full stops, and wonderful describing words to record what we saw

🧱 Year 1 Built to Last!

Our Year 1 students have been diving into the exciting world of Design and Technology (DT) by learning all about structures.

The children had a fantastic time putting their knowledge into practice, getting hands-on, and creating their very own structures. There was plenty of teamwork, problem-solving, and—most importantly—lots of fun along the way!

Take a look at our gallery below to see our budding young architects and engineers in action.
