World Book Day

In March we celebrated World Book Day and took part in various activities related to this years theme of 'Love of Reading'. We dressed up as various book characters and shared our reading books. Hawa was our 'best dressed' winner who was dressed as an Egyptian Goddess who had been mummified and came back to life! (From Horrible Histories). Check our her attention to detail with ripped bandages, jewellery for her afterlife and even her own coffin!!

NSPCC Number Day

In February we took part in NSPCC's Number Day. We participated in various activities across the day and took part in the National TT Rockstars battle. We had to dress up as numbers - with some children using read imagination!

Knife Crime Workshops

On 21st and 28th January, year 6 attended a Knife Crime Awareness Workshop. This was led by the Ben Kinsella Trust in Barking. Here we took part in a Choices and Consequences Workshop which involved understanding the ripple effect of carrying a knife and understanding how every choice we make has a consequence. We watched videos of family and friends affected by knife crime as well as meeting a 'prisoner' who was serving a prison sentence as a result of knife possession. We learnt about Joint Enterprise and understand how a small action we take, can affect us the same as the main crime.

NSPCC

On Tuesday 27th January, the NSPCC came in to deliver a workshop for our year 6 pupils based on Speaking out and Stay Safe.

The children took part in follow up activities which took place in class, reminding children to think about their 'safe' things, people and places.

Activity Week

While some children attended the year 6 residential to Trewern, the rest of us took part in activity week visiting St Paul's Cathedral, IFS Cable Cars and making pizzas in school.
