In TLC, the children explore British Values and what it means to be a good citizen.
- Democracy: Promoting self-confidence and self-awareness, for example, by involving children in decision-making (voting for a story) and encouraging them to share their views.
- The Rule of Law: Helping children understand right from wrong, managing feelings, and following shared classroom rules to create a safe environment.
- Individual Liberty: Encouraging self-confidence and self-awareness by allowing children to make their own choices, such as selecting activities or materials, and building a sense of agency.
- Mutual Respect: Promoting respect for others, sharing, turn-taking, and celebrating diversity through kindness.
- Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs: Celebrating festivals, exploring cultures, and teaching children to understand and embrace similarities and differences.
In weekly class assemblies, the children learn the Word of the Week and practice signing in Makaton.
