3. Classroom highlights

This week, Year 1 became nature detectives! We stepped out of the classroom to explore the trees and bushes growing in our school grounds.

We went on a "Tree Hunt" to see if we could find deciduous and Evergreen trees.

What We Learned:

  • Evergreen Clues: We discovered that evergreen trees are "always green" and often have thick, waxy leaves or sharp needles to protect them from the cold.
  • Deciduous Changes: We noticed that deciduous trees change. We learned they lose their leaves in autumn to "rest" during the winter.
  • Bushy Branches: We identified bushes (shrubs) by looking for plants with many woody stems growing close to the ground, rather than one tall trunk.

We have been working hard on writing our reports about elephants.

We had fun making dragons as part of our Chinese New Year celebrations.

Spring term

Welcome back! We hope your winter break was filled with rest, laughter and wonderful memories. It is time to warm up our brains and get ready to learn together in the new 2026 year.

We are also thrilled to welcome a new member to 1S class family, Mrs Kaur.

Mrs Kaur brings a lot of enthusiasm and passion for supporting our pupils. Feel free to stop by and say hello.
