2. What we've been learning

Spring 1

We have been learning about Ancient Egypt.  We have looked at how to mummify a dead Pharoah and the steps that we have to follow.  In our English lessons, we wrote a set of instructions , using imperative verbs and adverbs and this then led onto mummifying the children!!

We also made a cartouche out of clay and added our names using hieroglyphs.

We are currently writing a story about travelling back to Ancient Egypt and finding out about the past.  Please ask your child how their story is developing.

Autumn 1

We have started our Science topic of our bodies and we have been looking at our skeletons and how they protect our organs.  We completed an experiment to show how we needed to protect our brains.

We used tea cakes and created a skull to see if when we dropped them, our skulls would protect our brains.  We had great fun and it was fun to watch the children's faces as their skulls fell to the floor and smashed!

We have also been reminding ourselves of healthy eating and how the food groups help us to grow.  We have looked at how we can use the packaging on food to help us decide of the food is healthy for us to eat.  We will be moving on to creating our own healthy sandwich.
