2. What we`ve been learning

Spring 2:

 

English:

 

Our text this term is 'The Firebird' a picture book based on "A Celebration of Stravinsky's Classic Ballet'. The focus of our learning is to write a narrative.

 

Maths

The focus of our learning this term is to embed and extend our knowledge on fractions. This will included whole numbers, mixed numbers, improper fractions and applying to addition and subtraction. 

 

 

 

Spring 1:

English

 

The focus this term is reading 'The Iron Man' and exploring its language and meaning through discussion so that we have the understanding to be able to create our own news reports after learning the relevant skills.

 

Maths

Our focus this term is to apply informal written methods that involve multiplication and division.  Our second focus is length and perimeter (in particular about Metres and Kilometres and reasoning with their equivalents)

 

Art

This term our focus is learning the skill of tone and texture in sketching our ideas for a sculpture based on flight before creating our own version.

 

Geography

This term the focus is learning about longest rivers, highest mountains and largest deserts in the world and comparing to the UK.  Alongside exploring map reading (compasses, grid references and map symbols).
