Term 3
Week 1
This week we welcomed some new friends to nursery, we read the story ‘Kipper’s Toy Box’ and we learnt all about toys. We talked about our favourite toys and learnt the difference between old toys and new toys. We have been practicing counting to 6, just like kipper in the story. In art we drew a picture of our favourite toy and did some printing using toy shapes.
Week 2
We have been learning about Pirates! Captain Buckle-boots stole Mr sloth and sent us a treasure map and clues to find him. In maths we counted up to 10 and had to walk the plank to find the golden coins at the end. In Phonics we have been sounding out and finding real or fake pirate words.
Week 3
We have been learning about sea creatures. Our book of the week is ‘commotion in the ocean’. We learnt facts about different sea creatures and moved around like a crab. In phonics we learnt a new song called slippery fish and listened for rhyming words in the story. In maths we played a fishing game and practiced number recognition.
Week 4
We have been reading ‘Here we Are’, we discussed how people are all different, unique and special. We talked about what we like for breakfast and how we all eat different foods. We learnt about different kinds of houses. In maths we made a tally chart of the types of house we live in. We talked about our families who we love very much.
