Summer 1

Summer Term 1

Week 1

We have welcomed some new friends to Nursery. We have been good friends and role models to them. Our book of the week is ‘Aliens love underpants’. We made some aliens and decorated pants. We discovered that some aliens had tried to steal our pants from nursery!

Week 2

We have been learning about Super Heroes! We read the story ‘Superkid’. We talked about all the good things superkid did in the story. We named all the superheroes we know and talked about what super powers we would like to have and why. We used our problem solving to rescue the super heroes from the ice and the traps that the villains had set.

Week 3

We have been celebrating the Kings Coronation, we learnt what a coronation is and talked about how we are an exciting part of history. We made decorations and flags for the nursery. We made jam sandwiches for a picnic party and we had a big celebration for the new king. On Friday we came to school dresses as Kings and Queens and had a competition for who made the best crown.

Week 4

We have been reading ‘Supertato’ we learnt all about the evil pea and how supertato saved all the vegetables. We talked about healthy eating and made our very own supertatos. In maths we counted lots of different vegetables and sorted fruits and vegetables into the correct groups.

Week 5

We have been learning about vegetables this week. We read ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’. We planted potatoes and did some observational drawings of vegetables. We are developing an understanding of growth, decay and changes over time.  We talked about our families and who we like to go and visit. We did some food tasting and made a chart of our favourite vegetables.

Week 6

We have been exploring plants, animals and natural objects this week. We have been reading 'Jack and the beanstalk'! We had so much fun learning about the magic beans, and how Jack discovered the giant’s castle at the top of the beanstalk. In maths we have been learning about shorter and taller, comparing heights of objects. We have also been counting to 5 and back. We loved pretending to be the giant "fee fi fo fum!!!" and stomping really loudly!
