Extreme Earth

We are learning about volcanoes and earthquakes.

So far, we have learnt lots about volcanoes and are able to explain what they are, how they are formed, the different features of them and where they are located.

We can use subject specific vocabulary such as:

Plate tectonics

Earth's crust

Mantle

Magma

Conduit

Vent

Crater

And the list goes on.....

We have used our map skills to locate famous volcanoes around the world.  It was engaging, interesting and FUN!

Did you see the news reporting a volcanic eruption in Iceland on March 19th 2021?  We read all about it in school on Monday, and thanks to our prior learning, we could understand the report and explain the majority of the technical words used.

6F have been so motivated by this topic that lots of class members have produced extra homework and have extended their own learning.

Keep it up!!!
