3A

Welcome to 3A's class page.

We had lots of children wanting to be our school council members and after listening to everyone's reasons why, we voted for who we want to represent our class.

The two school council members are:

Zakariya and Poppy

Our reserves who will help out when needed are Rosella and Milan.

Well done to those children and to all those who spoke to the class about why they wanted to be a member. It was a very close result.

For our History topics we went to the Natural History Museum and took part in a Dino Dig where we became palaeontologists looking at dinosaur skeletons and archaeologists looking at fossils and artefacts. We can learn a lot about history from things in the past including Early Humans (studied in Autumn Term) and Ancient Egypt (currently studying).

Coronation Celebrations!

Look at our collaborative art mural that we completed to celebrate King Charles III Coronation. We also dressed up in red, white and blue for the day. Some of us took part in the crown making competition. Our winners were Shayan and Elliana - well done to everyone!

Easter Fun!

Story Workshop

We had Discover Story Centre visit us in school to lead a story writing workshop. We used our imagination to create a story and practised retelling it through drama. Can you see our rockets, detectives, royal family and dragons?!

World Book Day

Check out our World Book Day Costumes! Can you spot Wally who is hidden??

Science and D.T.

In Science we have learnt all about the body and healthy eating. We have learnt the names of different bones in the body and discussed balanced diets.

Within our D.T. lessons, we evaluated different food in a tasting lesson and then designed a sandwich we would like to make. In groups, we were given a budget and had to work together to place an online order with Asda. This meant we had to change some of our choices to fit within the budget. Then when the food arrived we made our own sandwiches using different techniques we learnt for chopping, slicing and grating. Once we finished, we had a picnic out on the field and then evaluated our sandwiches.

Measuring Bones

History

We are spending many weeks on our topic Early Humans. We are learning about the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age.

To start with we talked about archaeology and how we have found out about the past. We practised being archaeologists by trying to excavate hidden things within cakes without breaking them.

We also tried our hand at cave painting by drawing on paper stuck to walls and under tables using charcoal.

Art and Design

As part of our Early Humans topic, we completed some cave paintings and then compared them to how people express themselves nowadays in the form of Street Art. We focused particularly on graffiti and the work of Banksy. We recreated his famous piece Girl with the Balloon by making our own stencils, using charcoal and chalk followed by some shading and smudging to create the spray can effect.
