Reception

Welcome to Reception!

Reception is an exciting and enjoyable place to learn. Your child will take part in a range of activities across seven areas of learning. This will allow them to explore new concepts through play, as well as through more structured activities.

We go to the library on Tuesdays

We hope you enjoy sharing books with your child. Please remember to return the library books each week, so that your child can choose a new book.

We do P.E. on Wednesdays

Please make sure your child has the correct P.E. kit in school every week.

Please encourage your child to read their reading book at home and sign their reading records every time you hear them. We will change their reading books at least once a week. Every child needs to have their reading book, reading diary and basic knowledge wallet in school each day.

Homework

Your child needs to practise reading their reading books, high frequency words and numbers every day.

The list of the first 100 high frequency words is below. Your child should be able to read and write all of these words by the end of Reception.

100 High Frequency Words (reading/spelling)
